Hello
everyone and welcome to OWH’s Cards with Critters Blogskip! We’ve got a talented bunch of ladies
providing ideas today and I’m excited to be part of the group. In fact, I may have gone overboard with three cards, making this blogpost a little long - so be sure to check out my blog candy at the end!
My chosen critter? Why, cats of course, since two of them allow me to coexist with them (cats are such snobs).
Cat Card #1
I colored
the stamp with my Inktense pencils, trying to make him look like my calico cat,
Suzume. I mounted him on black
cardstock and used Vintage Photo to distress the image.
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
Inktense pencils
Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Stamp: My Pink Stamper
Paper: Basic Grey Out of Print
Striped and gray papers from my stash
Cat Card #3
This kitty is from an SVG file. I had a small bit of striped paper that I cut into dots which pulls all the colors together. I drew her smile and whiskers by hand and chalked her face and paws a bit.
Papers from my stash
Stamp from Friends Furever, embossed in white
Now on to the blog candy! I'm giving away a Teresa Collins Fabrications Canvas 6x6 paper pad and the Hot Air Balloon Collage stamp from TPC Studio. Just leave me a comment if you'd like to win it and I'll draw the names by Monday, Feb 4th at 6:00 pm EST and email the winner.
Now skip on over to the next stop, which is Joann Ross. If you get lost along the way, you can always start at the beginning here: Stars and Stamps.
Happy skipping!

ReplyDelete*cat
DeleteI love the embossed prints on the first card - looks like the kitty came in with wet paws!
ReplyDeleteI think you nailed the coloring of the calico cat! I like the sketchy look of it. Your other two cards are cute, too. These are sure to bring smiles to the people who send and receive them! Thanks for supporting OWH.
ReplyDeleteI love your cards. And the variety - from regular stamping to the machines - great!
ReplyDeleteApril
I love the bunnies. My granddaughter is into bunnies and would love this card! Thanks for sharing such a cute idea!

ReplyDeleteThe grey kitty is my favorite! The faux stitching really finishes off the card nicely.
ReplyDeleteWonderful kitty cards--I like the sentiments on all but esp on the first one. I also like how you colored the calico with the inktense pencils.

ReplyDeleteGreat set of cards. Especially love the last one. Never thought of cats being snobs but they definitely rule the house. :o)
ReplyDeleteSo cute, I love all your cards. I love the idea that you did of cutting out the tiny circles from a DP that would tie all the colors together. So many times, I don't have several coordinating DP, this is a cool trick! TFS!
ReplyDeleteCute cards! I especially love the sentiment on the first one, lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat kitty's. I really like they way you did the cats paws on the last card. Very cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards! Love all the layouts!! Thank you for sharing....
ReplyDeleteNanette
These cats are so cute! I like your trick of changing the stripe on the second card. Very clever way to make your paper "match". Great cards!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun group of cards Erika! I have to say that the face on the third one is just so cute and I really like how you chalked the details to coordinate with the papers. TPC Studio is not a familiar company to me... I'll have to check them out! Thanks for offering log candy and more importantly for playing in today's skip and spreading some inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun cards! I love them all! The first one made me laugh, the retro '50s is fab and the smile on the third one is too sweet. I also love the idea of covering a wrong color stripe with another piece of paper. Why did I NEVER think of that?????
ReplyDeleteWe have three rescued dogs, but I miss our cats. Unfortunately, grandkidlets and DIL are allergic, so after we lost Kitty Scarlett, the world's most insane Siamese, we couldn't have any more. But I do love making cards with kitty images.
Don't make me pick a favorite but I do like how you colored your calico cat. I also liked the use of the distress ink on that card

ReplyDeleteI too am a kitty-lover and these cards are just too cute and so filled with cat-itude! The first one just cracks me up with the sentiment and image! The embossed cat's pawprints add nice texture to this fun card. The 2nd one reminded me of my prissy cat from when I was a teen - talk about attitude -lol! And the 3rd one is so cute - love the color scheme and how you tied it all together with the dots - really fun! Thank you for sharing these and for your support of OWH. My email is aundriab (at) yahoo (dot) com
ReplyDeleteCute cards. I really like the first one - the coloring, paper, twine = all went together well.
ReplyDeleteI love the embossed paw prints on the first card, and replacing unwanted colors in the stripes is a great idea. I finished my grandbaby's scrapbook using this idea. Thanks for participating in the skip!

These are GREAT cards! I really like how you embossed the paw prints. I like how you used ink around the image and the twine. The sentiment made me smile too! Very creative to put a black strip of paper over the color that didn't coordinate! Brilliant! The third cat card is cute too! Great job of drawing the face and chalking on the image.
ReplyDeleteLove the inspiration in all the cards and appreciate your detailed explanations. Never thought about covering a part of patterned paper to change a color-so clever. And your use of cut images are both cute and fun. Would love some candy...croppinmama1(at)yahoo(dot)com.
