OWH Challenge #114

Another post in the same day - wow!  I am really ignoring all sorts of housecleaning!  Ha ha!  I made a quick card for OWH's sketch #114.  They've challenged us to make masculine cards, which I've been doing with the inspiration from the Creative Chemistry classes.

Here's the sketch:

Here's my card.  I used Distress inks and misted them with water to create the background pieces.  I stamped the lighthouse after using Evergreen Bough distress ink on the background.  The Happy Birthday sentiment didn't stamp too dark, but it's enough to see.

Thanks for looking!

More Creative Chemistry

I went on a shopping spree to find stuff for the Creative Chemistry class.  One thing I found was a Crushed Olive Distress Ink on sale for $2.99 (score!).  I never had any Tim Holtz stamps, but now I'm loving them and see that they would work well in making masculine cards for OWH.  Just another excuse to add to my stamp collection....

OK, so I'm still working on Day 3's class techniques after I bought some Glossy Paper.  I keep up with Kristina Werner's blog and her latest Friday focus card used the masking technique.  I cut a piece of the glossy paper and then cut an inner square of green Post-It paper to create a mask.  Then I stamped the outside edge of the square with Archival Ink:

I used Vintage Photo on the outside edges and Forest Moss inside the masked area.  Forest Moss matches the Papertrey Ink olive paper perfectly.  I could have used more layers, like Tim is teaching us, so I'll have to try that on future cards:

I'm having so much fun in class!

Creative Chemistry - Day 3

Today was another class, chock-full of information about alcohol inks and techniques.  The first tag I made used alcohol inks, which I totally forgot I had.  I didn't have the blending solution, so I just inked without it, but I definitely want to get some to see its affect.  You can hardly see the "Imagine" stamp, but it's there:

Here are the second and third tags from today's class.  They both look so vintage and I enjoy blending all the distress inks:

Creative Chemistry Class - Day 2

I've enrolled in another great online card class - this one is taught by Tim Holtz.  I am soo enjoying learning all the basics about dyes and how to use them.  I made my first tag with the Brushless Watercolor technique and here it is:

It's not too late to join in the fun at OnlineCardClasses.

OWH Mother's Day Challenge

I just got back from my semi-annual scrapbook retreat with plenty of pages and Mother's Day cards finished!  I put them into a box and mailed them to the OWH shipper in North Carolina.  This is my first donation to OWH and I was very excited to help out.  I hope there's a soldier who gets to send one of my cards to his/her mother for the holiday.  Here's the stash I made:

I plan on continuing to make quality cards for the soldiers - it's lots of fun!
