Thank goodness for Kristie at The best things in life are Pink! I was about ready to give up on today's OWH sketch and her card inspired me to turn the sketch on its side, which worked.
First, let me show you first two cards, that are just, well, OK:
I used alcohol inks and an air compressor to create that wild background. The "Hello" sentiment fit in, but I had no idea what to do for the second rectangle, so I created a mosaic with bits of paper. Hmmm....now my next card:
The flower is a transparency print. The Hello is from Hero Arts and I thought a script font was more feminine, but I'm not sure about those butterflies?? That second rectangle was driving me crazy!
My third card is better after flipping the sketch:
The lights and sentiment are from Technique Tuesday's Bright Idea. I made the bottom chevron with a Hero Arts stamp and different colors of Distress Ink.
Thanks for reading all the way through my blogpost. It's nice to get inspiration from another OWH cardmaker - that's why I read almost every post!
Tomorrow starts another online card class for three weeks! Yippee! They're so much fun. If you want to sign up, go to Online Card Classes.
Erika, I think your cards all turned out great, but I do really like the third one. Those light stamps work perfectly for the rectangles in the sketch. I'm so glad I could provide some inspiration for you. (My card wasn't really coming together until I flipped the sketch.)
ReplyDeleteErika...I have to agree that the flipped card is the best out of the three. I do love the alcohol background on the first. I haven't tried anything like that yet. TFS!!!
ReplyDeleteI like all three cards, and I love the first one! I've made cards with blown ink and think it's a great change from really planned out everything cards and paper. The last one is nice too, I like the more boy/man card for a change.

Wonderful group of cards. I especially like the alcohol inks; very striking.
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy. Such a wonderful trio of cards. I especially like the background of the first.
ReplyDeleteI think all three cards are terrific! The mosaic bits and butterflies look great on one of the rectangles - no worries there! The last card with the Technique Tuesday is awesome - love the lights!
ReplyDeleteI think all three cards are great, but I agree with you, the last one is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteYou have shared three great cards with us for this challenge. I really like your Alcohol Inks background as well as the softer look of your second card. This sketch does look really good flipped also. Great job with this challenge.
ReplyDeleteWow, definitely artistic manuevers there! I'm such a straight arrow, love folks like you who can venture outside the box! TFS!
ReplyDeleteNice cards, I do like the flipped interpretation of the sketch; tfs!
ReplyDeleteAwesome cards for this sketch Erika! Love the bold background and mosaic tile piece of the first. Love the softness and color of the second. The third is my favorite. I'm really liking this sketch flipped, and you've given me another idea for using that stamp set... which I have. Thanks for playing!
