Not so easy....

I look forward to Sunday's sketch from OWH and when I saw today's, I thought it would be sooo easy....I was wrong!  Waaah (that's my whine!)

I tried using the sketch on three different cards (which I'm not showing) and none of them worked for me.  I was using browns/blacks and decided to switch to red/blue - nope - didn't work either.

Meanwhile, I check the blog during the day and see that lots of crafty ladies are turning out great cards with the sketch.  So, I switched to green.  I realized my issue was that the middle layer needed something - embossing - to give that bit of interest I was missing.

Here's the card:
I added a bit of twine - totally copied this from Kristie's card - as well as the sentiment under my image.  The stamp is from Hero Arts "Going" set.  I really like this sketch and it just took me a while to find my happiness with it.

I've also made another set of four cards like this:
The airplane is from Stampers Anonymous and I embossed it and the Hero Arts greeting.

During my shopping this week, I found a 6x6 Basic Grey pad in Joann's for 97 cents.  Score!  Now I've got to use it all up!

I hopy ya'll had a nice weekend - I finally got some things done that I've been procrastinating about and that always feels good.  Take care - tomorrow is Design Boot Camp - see ya'll there!

  1. What a great deal you found! I like both of your cards... and I agree, sometimes a sketch looks super simple but everything I create turns out ho-hum! So frustrating!

  3. I really like the green papers you used. And I love how the embossing matches the patterned paper. I love the contrasting colors on your second card. That airplane really pops, especially with the distressing around it.
