Hi everyone and welcome to another great OWH bloghop! Our challenge inspiration is to make Thank You cards for our heroes, based on an OWH sketch. I chose sketch #165:
for my card:
I did partial embossing on each side of my white layer, leaving the center flat for my sentiment, which is from Simon Says Stamp. I cut the chevron border on my Cricut, added a red ribbon, and bestowed a fabric flowery-flourish on top (hmmm...don't know what the correct name is!)
I've got a giveway for you! Hero Arts recently released a new set of stamps available exclusively in Hobby Lobby stores. I bought stamps for myself and wanted to giveaway each set below:
Just leave me a comment and let me know if you'd rather have the set on the left (Blessings to You) OR the set on the right (You're Always in my Heart). Many stampers live far from a Hobby Lobby and I'd like to spread the stamping goodness to someone who can't get to the store (USA addresses only).
I'll draw two names (one for each set) on Wednesday, May 29th, and announce it on my blog and email the winners. Good luck!
Thanks for stopping by today! Happy Memorial Day weekend.
Erika, This is a wonderful card. I really like that touch of black and your "flowery thing". The black helps to bring everything else out. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I feel a CASE coming on! I absolutely LOVE this card with all the stars and chevron borders - not to mention the fabulous patriotic colors! That medallion is amazing and really caught my eye! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI love love love the stamps you're generously giving away, and my fav is the one on the right with that little postage stamp! Happy Memorial Day weekend!
Great texture on your card. I love the pinwheely accent. Thanks for the chance for candy but I've got a Hobby Lobby 20 minutes away.
ReplyDeleteI love your card especially the sentiment and how you put the black around it. I don't have either set so I would love either one.
ReplyDeleteHi Erika!
ReplyDeleteI love that fabricy flowery finish!! So stunning! Thank you to you and your husband for your service!
Blessings,
Antoinette
This is very pretty. I like your ribbon work.
ReplyDeleteGreat fabric flowery-flourish! Haha!
ReplyDeleteLove how you reversed the embossing on the top and bottom panels -- very creative.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win some blog candy. Either set would be great, but the right set is my favorite of the two.
So awesome!!! I like the embossing also! Thank you for supporting OWH!
ReplyDeleteLove the partial embossing! And no thanks, I may or may not have bought the stamps already, so don't pick me. :) (leslie #113)
ReplyDeletegreat embossing folder! and I love that star flower thingy, looks really good
ReplyDeleteI have this embossing folder. What a neat idea to flip and use both sides. Your card is beautiful and I love your embellishment. I am one of those who does not have a Hobby Lobby near by so I would love to be in the drawing for one of these sets. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteFantastic layout and gorgeous card. I like that embossing folder too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Patriotic card and I love that fabric/ribbon flower!
ReplyDeleteSuper fun card! What about that ribbon flower very nice. Wow a drawing.. the one on the right!(I have no HL near by)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card! Truly patriotic! Love the star embossed background, and your ribbon flower is amazing!
ReplyDeleteEither set would be an amazing win! Thank you for your generosity!
Gorgeous card - love the "fabric flowery-flourish" thingy! :-) Oh, and please leave me out of the drawing - I was fortunate enough to find both sets at my local HL! Thanks for the giveaway, though, and for supporting OWH!
ReplyDeleteGreat card. It is very well done.
ReplyDeleteTY, for the give away I always love hearts and they both are awesome either if I am picked.

I love the embossed stars and the red, white and blue theme. So appropriate for Memorial Day. I love the stamp set on the left. So nice of you to have a giveaway on your blog. Ty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card. I love the flower. I love both sets. I'd probably choose the set on the left.
ReplyDeleteThe flourish really sets it off. I also like leaving the middle flat for the sentiment. Brilliant. I have the HA set on the right and my HL still had both sets when I was in there last. TFS and supporting OWH
ReplyDeletethat flowery-fabric thing is my favorite!! did you make it yourself?? amazing!! i'm in hawaii and we definitely don't have a HL nearby... or a michaels or joann's!!! i'd love either set but i think i like the one on the right a teeeeensy bit more. thanks for the change to win goodies!!
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with that sketch!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat great details on this card. Absolutely fabulous job! Thank you for the opportunity to win a prize. Either set would be fine as there is no Hobby Lobby near me.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are great and well made.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! Love the flowery flourishy thinga ma jig. :D Great give away as well. Wish I had waited. I ordered them last week.
ReplyDeleteThe "flower thing" :-) pulls it all together.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.
I like the card's embossing technique. Great giveaway too. Either set would be wonderful (Hobby Lobby not too close).
ReplyDeleteThis card turned out beautifully! That embossing folder is one of my favorites but I have to admit that I have never managed to master 'partial embossing'. I am constantly amazed by the generosity of OWHers and the thought that you would give away these brand new stamp sets makes my day. No doubt someone will be very happy to put them to use on OWH cards. Thanks for joining in the hop and for supporting Operation Write Home!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Erika, I love the embossed star background and that lovely, looks like ribbon, flower! TFS and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your interpretation of the sketch. Thanks for sharing. No Hobby Lobby in this state. The one on the right would be most versatile.
ReplyDeleteLike what you did with the embossing and the ribbon flower.
ReplyDeleteLove your flowery flourishy thingy ma jig! So cute!
ReplyDeleteI really like your card. The stars embossing is great. I need to find that folder. :-) Please do not enter me into your drawing. I live near a Hobby Lobby and have both sets. I'd rather someone who doesn't live near one win.

Love this card! I like to know what you call that item which you use to stand the card up with. I m looking for one for myself.
ReplyDeleteI like your flowery flourish. I'd love to win either of the sets since I don't have a HL anywhere near me, but if I had to chose I'd say the one on the right. Thanks for the chance and being so generous!
ReplyDeleteHappy Memorial Day and thanks for your support of OWH!

What a great card. I love the little flourish. Thanks for supporting OWH and for the blog candy...but you can leave my name out of the drawing...I have an HL real close and the restock shipment is due any day now...so I can pick it up. Let's spread the love to someone who can't get to an HL :-)
ReplyDeleteThis card is a terrific example of how to do this sketch! I love the flowery flourish thing! Since there is no HL for hundreds of miles from me I would feel very blessed if I won either set but I do like the set on the left the best. Thank you for supporting OWH and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove that "fabric flowery flourish!" So much going on with this card, but you put it together perfectly. TFS.

ReplyDeleteThe embossing folder is so outstanding. You did such a great job!!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI created the sample card for this sketch when it was introduced, so it's fun for me to see how someone else has used it! :) I like your flowery thingie, and the partial embossing is a really creative way to include that horizontal element in the sketch.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your generosity in offering blog candy! The closest HL store is about 90 miles away so I don't get there often. I prefer the "thinking of you/you're always in my heart" set on the right. That patriotic heart is great!
Truly a striking card! Very clever use of embossing!!
ReplyDeleteGreat card, but I'm most impressed by your generous spirit. I have a Hobby Lobby just down the street, so as much as I would like to win a set, I'll leave that for those who aren't as lucky as I am. Thanks for your participation in the OWH Blog Hop!
