Yesterday I started on the Day 2 cards for the Clean & Simple class and finished them today. I learned how to make flat cards today - it was hard not to "pop" up an element on the card, but I kept them flat.
My first card is a CASE from Julie Ebersole (a great teacher!). I found some floral stamps, used the Fired Brick distress inks and simply stamped them slightly off the card. Since my stamps were small, I scaled down the card to be 4.25 x 4.25:
For my second card, I tried the masking technique using Post-It labels (I didn't have any Post-It notes!), which worked fine. I sprayed the inside of the mask with Mr. Huey Green ink and cut out two stamped images as well to make them masks.
Unfortunately, I couldn't stamp over the masked images because the adhesive was left on the card. So, I just stamped and cut the images out, then added Smooch coloring to them. It's not exactly as Julie showed us, but at least I learned the masking technique and will definitely try it again.
I love these labels - I've used them all over my craft area:
I've also developed a small problem....my cats decided they like to sleep on my craft chair! Why oh why do they decide to sleep here when there's an entire house to find a snooze place? I feel so guilty for politely asking them to move when I need to work!
Love your cards - the birthday card is such a happy one with great colors :)
ReplyDeleteBoth your cards are awesome (as are your cats)! Those flowers are so pretty and I love your 'happy' banner on the cupcake birthday card!
