Sketch-n-Scrap for November

Hello! I've been working on a few scrapbook pages and used the November sketch from Sketch n Scrap for a layout on my visit to Singer Castle:

 I used the blue and white gable ceilings as my color inspiration for the page.  The page title was cut on my Silhouette and I used a cameo shape above the word "Servant's".  It always amazes me that my Silhouette can cut something so small!

I added a bit of lace to the right edge and matted it on a gray and white striped background.  The sketch is a great one for a layout using 3 pictures:

Treasured Memories scrapbook layout

Hello friends!  One of my favorite places to get cut files is from Miss Kate Cuttables.  Their designs are creative and fun and I especially love that there's a daily freebie!  When I read about their guest design member call, I thought I'd give it a try with a scrapbook layout.

The last time I visited the home I grew up in, I took pictures of my bedroom.  I thought it would be fun for my children to see how it looked and a good memory for me. I used elements from the "Treasured Memories" and "Family Memories" MKC files for my pages:

 

I spent quite a while matching papers to the bedspread my mother has on the beds and found a 2001 floral Anna Griffin paper still in my stash (talk about using up old paper!).  Here's my two page layout:

The top border is from the Family Memories MKC and the dress form is from the Silhouette store. I gave myself a small 3x3 journaling block on the left page and double-matted the photos 

 I added a vellum piece behind the dress form to give it some contrast against the background.

There's also a few pearls on the waist of the dress form and I added some swirls behind the pictures.

This is one of those layouts that I worked on all weekend, little by little.  I'd cut something out, come back a few hours later, cut something else, etc.  Although scrapbooking your old bedroom isn't the most exciting subject, it's part of my past and I wanted to remember it - a treasured memory for sure!

Stick it down sketch challenge

I'm working on my scrapbook from 2010 and I desperately needed a sketch for my inspiration.  I found the latest sketch over at Stick it Down and thought it would work well for my page about walking along the canal in downtown Columbia.

The paper and embellishments are by Crate Paper; the title was cut on my Silhouette.

I loved the sketch!  It feels good to find time to scrapbook again.

Stuck on U sketch

I'm busy with my scrapbooks this weekend and I'm finishing up one about our trip to New York City.  I wanted to create a one page layout about our stop at Patsy's Pizzeria and used the latest sketch from Stuck on U Sketches:

Papers are by SEI; sentiment is #58274 by Lori Whitlock in the Silhouette store.  I remember this lunch stop as a nice break in our busy day touring NYC and this restaurant had yummy pizza!

Sketch N Scrap + an OWH sketch card

My uncooperative laptop as made me late in posting my card for this week's OWH sketch - #224.  I made two cards with this sketch:

I managed to fit in some time for scrapbooking and made a page using the May "Inspired by" sketch from Sketch N Scrap:

This page uses Graphic 45 paper and documents our visit to the Jekyll & Hyde restaurant in NYC.  We're not allowed to take photos inside, which I learned after snapping the skeleton and Dracula, so I had to journal about the visit.  I used my Silhouette and the Chiller font to create the title for the page.  It's always fun to get back to my scrapping, even if I'm 5 years behind!

Scrap retreat

Hello!  I'm away at a scrapbook retreat and it's appropriate that I post a page for a challenge.  I'm loving Pamela's World of Scrap blog and her latest sketch - Sketch #242 was great for me to document a trip to the zoo.

 

 

I've had the Creative Memories animal paper for years and I'm happy to use it up!  The title is from the Paper Wizard - here .  This is the sketch:

A scrapbook page using Pamela's sketch

With school in full swing, I'm finding a hard time to do any scrapbooking.  I found a great site with sketches - Pamela's World of Scrap and I loved the following sketch:

 

 

I'm working on a snow page (this is a rare thing in South Carolina) and decided to turn some of circle elements into snow flakes.  Here's the left page:

The blank spot on the left page will be a journaling spot for me.  The sketch was a great inspiration to motivate me to complete another scrapbook page (I'm only 3 years behind)

FCCB Challenge #62 - Remember This

Happy Memorial Day!  I love the appreciation everyone gives to our military on this day.  For my family, this is a day to remember the 21 years of military service my husband gave and the 5 years that I put in as well as part of the U.S. Army.

FCCB's challenge this week fit in perfectly with the heritage album I've been working on.  I just finished this page on my father-in-law's grandfather.  I used Graphic 45 paper with the the fellows in the car and the "Proper Gentlemen" title.  

  

I used images from the Heritage cartridge for his name label and brown brads around his picture.

The original picture is a 2x4 which I scanned and enlarged to 5x7.  I used Picnic to add a sepia tone to the picture.  I love his handlebar mustache!

Unfortunately, I can't add much journaling because I don't have much information on him, but his face will live on through the memories of the scrapbook I'm making.  And that's what's best about this great addiction (or hobby) that we all do!

Hello!  This is the start of something new and fun!  I've wanted to have a blog for a while and just decided to take the plunge and go for it.  Now I can participate in fun challenges and be inspired by so many other paper fanatics like myself. 

My first layout is from a family trip to Toronto.  One of the many things we did was visit the CN Tower and this layout is the first page about that.  I found an SVG image of the CN tower, which I cut out using Sure-Cuts-a-Lot and then created the circle frames using the Jumbo Circle pattern from Creative Memories.  I love the patterned paper from American Crafts "Travel".
