Sunday Cards

Hello there!  I've had a busy weekend sewing and crafting.  It's marching band season again and I'm the uniform chairperson, which means sewing and measuring, but I enjoy working with the students so I don't mind.  I'm learning how to cut with fabric on my Cricut, but it's the most frustrating thing ever!

 

#1 - Challenge #29 at A Blog Named Hero

ABNH challenged us to re-use something we intended to throw away.  After my last card (see here), I was going to throw away the extra circles I cut out.  I played around with the shapes and came up with this card:

 

The large scallop is imperfect - one of the scallops was cut clean off, but I hid this underneath my circle sentiment, which uses the Hero Arts Fancy Basics stamp.  So, I re-used the imperfect scallop on a card!  Pretty pleased with myself.  (Ink is Versafine Smokey Gray.)

 

#2 - August ODBD Challenge

Our Daily Bread Designs provides a monthly challenge at Operation Write Home and this month, we're challenge to make something using the colors brown, green, and pink.  I  came up with cherry blossoms as my focal point, which was a free file from SVG Cuts - cherry blossoms -

 

#3 - Sketch #184 at OWH

This week, Doodle Pantry is sponsoring our weekly sketch.  The last time they did this for us, I bought several digi stamps from them and received the Rounded sentiments free with my purchase.  These stamps are exactly what I was looking for on my cards and I printed several of them for today's sketch:

 

This card was my best for today, but here's my first two cards using the sketch:

VCMP Challenge #5

Leslie, aka The Crooked Stamper, challenged us to "disappear" a 12x12 sheet of paper.  What a great idea because I've got tons of paper that needs to get disappeared.  I bought this sheet of American Crafts paper (called What's New) on clearance and thought the pins & paper clips would be perfect for a card:

 

Leslie gave us OWH Sketch #63 as a guide and I made 4 cards from my paper, rotatint the sketch around:

OWH Sketch #123

The OWH Memorial Bloghop is still going on and I've had so many lovely comments on my contribution to the hop.  It's been a lot of fun.  Today, we've got another great OWH sketch.  Although I'm busy making birthday cards for June birthdays, I managed to make a card based on the sketch:

It's a very romantic card.  I used old old Creative Memories paper and an SVG for the flower, which I inked with the Spun Sugar distress ink.  I used small pearls around the sentiment and in the flower center.

I'm going to start making SVG files of card sketches, which should help me put the cards together quicker.  I'm sharing the file with anyone who wishes to download it here:

I also made another card for OWH out of the same paper.  It's not based on a sketch - I just kept layering the scraps of paper until I came up with something suitable!

I'm still checking out the Memorial Day bloghops and they've inspired me so much.

Impress your friends!

Hi everyone!  I was blog-hopping on Sunday and found this easy-to-make wreath over at the Simply Sassy Scrapper blog:  Simply Sassy Scrapper

I was eager to use up last year's holiday American Crafts 8x8 paper pad (so I can buy more holiday paper!) and I made the wreath in an hour.  Yes!  An hour!

Here's how my version turned out:

The "Holiday Cheer" SVG is from SVG Cuts.com.  I took it to work to decorate my dreary cubicle and it impressed my friends!  (They don't know it was soooo easy to do).

HCBC - Day 5!

We're halfway thru the Holiday Card Boot Camp and I've enjoyed it so much!  Today's class was on making reproducible cards.  I loved Jennifer's watercolor embossed card.  This was easy to make and looks so pretty with the Perfect Pearls misting.

I made an SVG of the word "Peace", which you can have for free here:  Peace

I needed to make my mother a birthday card and I used this card as my inspiration.  The background is the "Color Me" stamp from Hot off the Press.  I got this paper at the CKC convention and finally got around to using it.

I hope to try making more cards tomorrow!



HCBC - Day 3

We had another great day of instruction and ideas in the Holiday Card Boot Camp!  I have to admit that I struggled waaay too much over embossing and just couldn't get anything to work right - the colors looked wrong or the embossing didn't work.  I ended up using the card pattern idea without embossing.

The inspiration card had a circle cutout with an image hanging within the circle.  However, I decided to use a stamped image that I made from Kristina W's Holiday Card Series (card #5) as the background that peeks thru the circle.  I love the bird and soft background.

Laundry Room Collage

This past weekend, I put together two collage scrapbook frames to decorate my laundry room.  I painted my laundry room and wanted to spiff it up some.  I was inspired by Amy's "Gnome Sweet Gnome" collage at SVGCuts.com: http://www.svgcuts.com/blog/2011/02/24/gnome-sweet-gnome-svg-collage/.

I'm also entering this in the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge!  I used the American Crafts "Dear Lizzy" paper and the butterflies and trees are from the April Showers Cricut cartridge.  The basket is from the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge, and I cut off the basket handle to make it look more like a laundry basket and punched two circles for the laundry in the baskets.

I used my Cri-Kit pens to write the words "Loads of fun" and cut the clouds in my Sure-Cuts-a-Lot software.  I embossed the tree tops with the Swiss dots Cuttlebug folder and then stickled each dot.  The butterflies and large cloud are also enhanced with Stickles.  It's hard to see that in the photo.

I cut out the individual clothes from the "Dear Lizzy" paper line and used the same butterflies from the April Showers cartridges.  The phrase "It all comes out in the wash" was written with my Cri-Kits pens.  I used stickles on the butterflies.

Hello!  This is the start of something new and fun!  I've wanted to have a blog for a while and just decided to take the plunge and go for it.  Now I can participate in fun challenges and be inspired by so many other paper fanatics like myself. 

My first layout is from a family trip to Toronto.  One of the many things we did was visit the CN Tower and this layout is the first page about that.  I found an SVG image of the CN tower, which I cut out using Sure-Cuts-a-Lot and then created the circle frames using the Jumbo Circle pattern from Creative Memories.  I love the patterned paper from American Crafts "Travel".
