Mojo Monday #328

A happy chilly Saturday to ya!  I've been working through 12x12 sheets of Boy Scout paper leftover from an album I made my son.  The dark colors work great for masculine cards and they coordinate with the new Hero Arts Lil Hoot stamp set.  I colored the cute bear with Copic brown markers:

This is a great sketch because it uses lots of layers and paper.

A shape card

It's fun to go back to the beginning when all I had was my Cricut.  One of my first Cricut cartridges was Wild Card, which I've used a lot over the years, however, I do forget it, and when I saw this week's Shape card challenge at FCCB , I thought I'd dust it off for a fun card.

This is the doily card on page 52 of the cartridge, cut at 4.5 inches so it will fit into an A2 envelope.  The card sketch design is from this week's Mojo Monday challenge:
Papers are from the Nov 2012 Simon Says Stamp card kit.  Sentiment is Paper Smooches.

A mermaid card

This is my last night for crafting for a week because I'm going on vacation.  I put together this card for the Simon Says Stamp By the Sea challenge and used this week's Mojo Monday sketch for the design:
I embossed the kraft base with the Swirly embossing folder and rubbed white chalk ink on it.  The papers are from Creative Imaginations; sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs and I added a piece of lace at the bottom.

This is a dreamy card to me - perhaps because I'm dreaming of my vacation!  Ha ha.

Today's card challenges

In between chores, I snuck in a few cards for two challenges.

The first is a sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches:
and here's my card:
The stamps are from Hero Arts - "Right at Home" and the paper is "Beach Cottage" from Creative Imaginations.  I used an Impression Obsession die for the fence.

My second challenge is for Mojo Monday 296 with this sketch:
and here's my card:
This is a 5x5 card for my sister, using the same Beach Cottage paper.  My sister loves magical women, like this mermaid, which I fussycut and mounted on the blue circle.  The stamp is from Tim Holtz and I added some Liquid Pearls on the side.  Such a girly card, and lots of fun to make!

OWH May Bootcamp with a bit of Mojo!

Hi there!  The latest OWH Bootcamp lesson is Variety is the spice of life.  I chose to add variety by using different papers from the 6x6 Beach Cottage paper pad by Creative Imaginations.  I layered different papers so that the focal point (the Technique Tuesday sentiment) stood out.  Today's Mojo Monday sketch was the layout for my card:

This is the sketch:
I hope my card gives enough variety for the homework lesson.  I appreciate your comments and advice!

His & Hers - Day 3 - Sympathy/Thank You cards

Today's I'm combining our class homework with a few challenges, so here goes:

Our class homework is to make his/hers sympathy cards.  I started with Freshly Made Sketch #84

and used the Simon Says Stamp May 2013 card kit to make the his version:

I used the line stamp from SSS Everyday Happy set with Delicata gold ink on the top and bottom of the paper, as well as the Hero Arts sentiment.  I love the Delicata ink - it stamps intricate designs very well.

Here's the hers version:

I turned the sketch vertically and stamped the line & sentiment with Versamark Smokey Gray ink.  I white embossed the flowers from the May kit and colored them with Inktense pencils.

The next challenge is the mid week throwdown at Operation Write Home.  I used the Mojo Monday 291 sketch as my starting point:
and here's the "his" version:
and the "hers" version:
All papers are from the May SSS card kit.  On the female version, I used the banner stamp on vellum with white embossing.  I learned to watch that heat gun on the vellum!  It will bubble up if you heat it too long.

That's all for me today - have a lovely Thursday!

Mojo Monday and Our Daily Bread Challenges

Hey there!  I worked on cards tonight for some challenges: one at Mojo Monday and two at OWH: Our Daily Bread Design challenge and this week's MWT color challenge.  OK - here goes:

This is the Mojo Monday sketch:
Here's my card, which I'm also using for the MWT challenge:
I used a tutorial by Laura B on plaid stamping here to make the Happy Birthday square.  This was my second attempt, but I enjoyed it and will have to try it again someday.  This card uses my favorite color combo - the rainbow!  It's fun to use all of those colors together and I think it makes for a happy card.  I always am happy to see a rainbow in the sky.

My next cards use images from Lettering Delights, who had a $1 sale on all their SVG files.  I bought the Doug's Outer Space collection and cut out this rocket and planet for the ODBD challenge:

I printed the sentiment because I tried in vain to find a digital stamp with this sentiment.  This card comes pretty close to using the rainbow colors too - just no red.

I made another version of this card too:
I made the dark blue background by cutting small stars on the background.

Well, that will do it for me tonight.  Thanks for looking!

Mojo Monday

I'm concentrating on cards for kids for this week and decided to use the mouse from the Create a Critter cartridge first, along with this week's Mojo Monday sketch:

Here's my card:

The pink striped paper is from Creative Memories - I'm sure they don't make it any longer.  I used pink, gray and white paper from my stash.  I embossed the white strip with the Swiss Dots folder.  The stamp is from My Pink Stamper and she no longer sells her stamps.  She has a great line of punny sentiments that I love to use on kid's cards.

Hope you have a "mice" day too!
