Hero Mail

Hello!  I'm getting another box of cards ready to send to Operation Write Home and needed some Any Hero cards.  Over at  Birds Cards blog, she's made some great card covers and one of them is this Star design that worked great for several Any Hero cards for me:

  

The paper is BoByunny Anthem Capital & Anthem Patriot.  Stamp is Papertrey Ink Military Hero.

And since I had lots of leftover stars, I made another card using an Unscripted Sketches sketch -  #254  :

The background is embossed with the Cuttlebug Stars folder and I glued together three stars to make it pop on the card.  Stamp is again from Papertrey Ink Military Hero. Our service members may think they've been forgotten, so I thought this sentiment would be a great reminder to them that we are grateful for what they do.

Stampin' on Saturday

There's been a few challenges that I wanted to enter and I made some cards today for them. 

 

Muse challenge #24 had this card as the inspiration:

 

The green and black color combo was interesting to me and I used Cupcake party stamp set from Simon Says Stamp for my card.  I used the woodgrain embossed paper, which is hard to see in the picture:

 

My next card uses this sketch from Unscripted Sketches

 

I used the same stamp set and papers from the July Simon Says Stamp kit.  I didn't follow the sketch exactly, but I was happy with the results.

 

My last card is a Christmas one, which I'm submitting to the Merry Monday July Challenge.  Last year was my first full year making cards for Operation Write Home and I started on my holiday cards too late.  Now I know to get started earlier!

 

 

I think this card used every tool I have!  The doll is from the Going Places cricut cartridge, which I edged with Tea Dye distress ink.  I punched snowflakes and her wreath from the Martha Stewart leaf punch.  I used an Inktense pencil to color her hair and glued things down with Glossy Accents.

 

I created the faux stitching along the edge with my Signo white pen.  This qualifies the card for this month's ODBD challenge for Operation Write Home. 

 

It's been so rainy here in South Carolina that this was a good day to craft indoors.

Clean and Simple

Happy midweek to ya!  Nothing strikes fear into me more than CAS (clean and simple) cards.  I love playing with paper - I feel safe with that.  Stamping directly onto a card?  Scary!

 

I used a technique from the Clean and Simple card class for this card:

I white embossed the flowers onto black and then colored over them with Inktense pencils.  I've tried this technique with other watercolor pencils and couldn't get the color to stand out, but those Inktense pencils work so much better for me. 

 

This card is based on this week's Unscripted Sketch #216:

 

I used the same Hero Arts stamp to make a card for the OWH midweek throwdown CAS challenge:

I used an Impression Obsession woodgrain stamp for the background (stamped directly on the card - yikes!) and white embossed the stamp.  I used Crushed Olive and Wild Honey Distress Inks over the flowers.  The Happy Birthday is from the Hero Arts Big Hugs stamp set.

 

I wanted to add twine or brads or something else, but stopped myself. 

This was a good challenge today!

OWH MWT with an Unscripted sketch

Hi bloggers!  Happy Friday to ya.  I'm catching up with some challenges here...using this Unscripted Sketch - #215 :

 

 

The orange is a freebie file from Miss Kate's cuttables and the paper is from Jillibean Watermelon Gazpacho Soup.  The sentiment is computer generated.

 

I thought this would make a good Cards for a kid as well for our weekly throwdown over at OWH.

Freebie from Birdie!

There are so many sites that give us freebies, like Torico over at Birdie Brown.  Her June freebie is so cute and I used him on this card, based on this sketch from Unscripted Sketches:

 

 

I colored him with Copics to match the papers, which are from the June Simon Says Stamp card kit.

 

I'm looking forward to the weekend because I keep seeing techniques that I want to try. I've got many half-made cards on my table and I need to get them done before I move on!
