Creative Chemistry - Day 3

Today was another class, chock-full of information about alcohol inks and techniques.  The first tag I made used alcohol inks, which I totally forgot I had.  I didn't have the blending solution, so I just inked without it, but I definitely want to get some to see its affect.  You can hardly see the "Imagine" stamp, but it's there:

Here are the second and third tags from today's class.  They both look so vintage and I enjoy blending all the distress inks:

Thanks for looking!

Creative Chemistry Class - Day 2

I've enrolled in another great online card class - this one is taught by Tim Holtz.  I am soo enjoying learning all the basics about dyes and how to use them.  I made my first tag with the Brushless Watercolor technique and here it is:

It's not too late to join in the fun at OnlineCardClasses.

OWH Mother's Day Challenge

I just got back from my semi-annual scrapbook retreat with plenty of pages and Mother's Day cards finished!  I put them into a box and mailed them to the OWH shipper in North Carolina.  This is my first donation to OWH and I was very excited to help out.  I hope there's a soldier who gets to send one of my cards to his/her mother for the holiday.  Here's the stash I made:

I plan on continuing to make quality cards for the soldiers - it's lots of fun!

Simon Says Stamp March Kit

Simon Says Stamp has started a monthly card kit club and I bought the March kit.  The contents of the kit were great - stamps, ink, paper and best of all - ideas!  That made it very easy for me to finish two cards - a Mother's Day card for OWH and another general card:

Using the card kit has hooked me in and I joined the monthly card kit club.  So now I'll be getting cool card making stuff every month!  I can hardly wait!

Stamp Storage

I struggle with storage ideas.  I hunt around the internet and try one or two ideas and if it's not working, then I change it up again.  Stamps are tough for me....I don't want to collect and use tons of CD cases and prefer to look at them in a binder, but putting them in plastic sleeves for pictures wasn't working.  The stamps would fall out and make a mess.

This last weekend I went to Staples and found the Martha Stewart line of office supplies!  She's got a great line of stuff, so I went nuts.  First, I bought her red notebook ($12.99), which has a D-ring clasp - perfect for bulky items:

Then I bought a pack of 4 pocket sleeves. Each pocket measures about 5x4.25 inches.  I cut white cardstock and transparency paper for each pocket, then stuck my stamps and slid them in.  The pockets have a flap at the top, so the stamps won't slide out!  Yah - my problem solved:

I also bought a pack of 2 pocket sleeves for my big stamps and Spellbinder dies:

I think this will work for me for quite a while.  I've already got to go buy another album because my first one is getting full!  Ha ha.   I hope this helps someone solve their stamp storage issues too!

Thanks for looking.

OWH Mother's Day cards

I've created a few Mother's Day cards for OWH.  I found I had no Mother's Day stamps (I've got some on order) and instead, I used my Cri-kits pens to write the sentiments for these two cards.  I loved using up my pink scraps:

I also received my OWH stamp (free) and just love stamping it on my cards!

Looks like my lense needs a cleaning too.

Mother's Day Challenge at OWH

Operation Write Home has got a Mother's Day card challenge for us to send boxes of half Mother's Day and half other cards to them.  We've got until March 20th to get the cards to our shippers and I can't wait to make some cards for the challenge.  I want to use what I've learned in the online card classes to make these cards.
