FCCB Blue Skies challenge

This week the ladies at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge blog challenged us to make something using blue and at least one cloud.  I made this card using a cloud from the Every Day Paper dolls cartridge.

I believe the paper is from a DCWV paper pack from last year.  I love the cloud papers and used up both sheets of them (or I thought I did).  When I was rummaging thru my blue papers, I was happy to find a little scrap of it still left, which I used on this card.

I'll probably give this card to the Operation Write Home project.  Thanks for looking!



Band Banquet place cards

I used the Quarter Note cartridge to make place cards for our Senior students at the annual band banquet.  I cut the instrument and shadow for each student's instrument and used Stickles to 'bling' up their place card.  Here are the cards sitting on the welcome table as the students arrived:

I used an oval frame file and cut it using my SCAL2 software.  For the ovals with the names, I cut them out first on my Cricut and then ran them thru my printer using the Edwardian font.

The colorguard images came from Paolo's blogpost here;  colorguard silhouettes   I had to make SVG files of the more unusual instruments, like the bass clarinet and bassoon, but it was a lot of fun.  The seniors enjoyed getting a personalized name card.

Bass Clarinet SVG

I'm making place cards for the Seniors at our band banquet.  On each place card, I'm making their instrument, using the Quarter Note cartridge.  However, not all of the instruments are on this cartridge, like the bass clarinet.  So, I found a bass clarinet image and converted it into an SVG.  Here's the image I altered in Inkscape:

It's unusual to need this instrument for anything, but I thought I'd share the SVG here:

NSD Pink Stamper Challenge #9

Challenge #9 is to use glitz or glam!  In making my musical centerpieces, I cut the french horn from the Quarter Note cartridge.  I added some glitz with Glossy Accents and Stickles.

I'm going to put these on sticks for the centerpiece, so I had to use the "Flip" button on my Cricut to cut the second french horn in the opposite way.  Here's the beginning of my final project:

I'm going to paint the wooden picks black and add lots of other elements from the Quarter Note cartridge, but at least I've got it figured out!

NSD Pink Stamper Challenge #5

Challenge #5 for National Scrapbook Day at My Pink Stamper is to make a 3D object.

I've been wracking my brain to create table centerpieces for my son's band banquet and found a cupcake stand from SugarGem's blog cupcake stand.  I enlarged it to make it taller. 

I love the square topper she made and I ran black ribbon through mine.



NSD Pink Stamper Challenge #4

I'm joining in the NSD fun over at My Pink Stamper a little late today, because I had to work.  Yuck.  But, I'm going to play the rest of the day along with her challenges.  Below is a card I made for Mother's Day (I haven't mailed it yet -oops!).  It was inspired by Tamara at Happy Life, Crafty Wife and her Thanks a Bunch card. 

The top flowers can be removed and that's where I wrote my sentiment:

I don't usually make paper flowers, but this was a lot of fun and I'm going to make more in the future!

FCCB Challenge #54

The latest Fantabulous Cricut Challenge is "April Showers" which challenges us to create a project using an umbrella or hat.  Most of the ladies entering are favoring umbrellas, so I chose a hat instead.  I've been busy making cards to send to the troops overseas and I thought my Howdy! card would work with my project.  Here's the card:

The "Howdy!" is an SVG from Just Yolie and so is the hat, but I don't remember where I got it from!  I took a piece of aluminum foil and embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and then burnished it with some Perfect Pearls powder.   I think it's a good male card to give to a soldier.
