The longest short week ever!

What a week it's been for me...several friends commented that this was the longest 4 day week ever!  That's what it felt like for me with marching band and football season starting.  It's left me little time to work on cards, except for today.

I did participate in this week's Mid-week throwdown - I just never posted my card:

Today's sketch was fun!  I used papers & stamps from the July Simon Says Stamp kit club.
Another crooked card picture!  Here's our sketch:
There's so many great things going on at the OWH Stars & Stamps blog - it's been great reading. I loved the OWH ATG tutorial and I've wanted to bling out my ATG gun for a while - now maybe I'll do it.

Today's sketch is sponsored by Paper Smooches and I don't have any of their stamps, but I really want to get some soon....hmmm...will have to add that to my wish list.

I hope everyone's having a nice day - it's finally cooled down to 86 degrees today in South Yaka-sakee (South Carolina).  Take care!

OWH Bonus Sketch

After the last two days, I had a mass of stuff on my desk.  I had cut out these delicate daisy images from vellum, but never found a challenge that I could fit them in.  When OWH sent us a bonus sketch, I finally had my ta-da! moment and found a way to use them.

The paper is from July Simon Says Stamp kit, stamp from Stamps of Life:
I'm trying to take better photos of my cards, but I wish I had a light box.  I'll put that on my wish list....

Happy card making day to everyone!

VCMP for OWH - Challenge #10

Challenge #10 for the Virtual Card making party is to make a card that represents my state - South Carolina.  I was whining in an earlier post that I'd rather be at the beach, and I made a card that represents that.  Myrtle Beach is a popular spot in my state and I know there's lots of people enjoying their Labor Day weekend there.
Here's my final card:
Wow!  I'm so happy I made it through every challenge and there's several other bloggers who did the same.  The great thing is that I've got so many more cards to fill my OWH box and I stretched my card making to complete cards that I ordinarily would not do.

This was such a fun event and I loved it all!  Thanks to everyone who took the time to comment on my blog.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

VCMP for OWH - Challenge #9

Challenge #9 is to use a neglected tool and I chose stickers.  It's really not a tool, but I've got plenty of them sitting in boxes, unused for years.  I remember when that's all we had to embellish our pages years ago and now I don't think to use them at all.

I found these Creative Memories fall stickers and used them against neglected CM paper.  I embossed the sentiment with Distress Ink Walnut Stain.
I guess I'm getting tired because my card is crooked!  I'm going to throw another card like this together while I wait on the last challenge.  We're nearing the end!

VCMP for OWH - Challenge #8

Challenge #8 - make a sports themed card.  I have never done this!  The sport that I've got tons of paper for scrapbooking is baseball, so I found some rubon titles and cardstock and made these two quick cards:

And I'm caught up...no I'm not...it's 5:00 pm and there's another challenge coming!

VCMP for OWH - Challenge #7

OK - Challenge #7 and I'm still in the party!  This challenge is "Christmas for kids - big and small" - make two cards - one for a Christmas Any Hero and the other for a hero to give to a child.  This forced me to open up my Christmas papers and get in the spirit.

My first card is for a child, using an owl from Lettering Delight's "Nancy's Happy Holidays".  I totally forgot that I had this cutting set and was pretty happy with the result:

My AnyHero Christmas card started using a glitter accent, but when the glitter came off the accent, I switched gears and found an ornament that I made last year.  I paired it with this Hero Arts stamp, using OWH Sketch #80 for inspiration:

I'm sweltering today in my craft room with 90 degree heat!  I'd rather be making beach cards.

I need to correct myself - I didn't get to select the Redonkulous image - I was given the lovely wedding couple image.  I can't wait to use it!

VCMP for OWH - Challenge #6

I am seriously going to have to go buy a lottery ticket, because I received another gift - this time a free image from Redonkulous Designs!  That's two gifts in one weekend - thanks so much!!!

Challenge #6 uses our weekly OWH sketch.  I pulled out my papers/embellishments from the August Simon Says Stamp card kit to make this simple card.  The sentiment is chalked with Mango Mai Tai from Quick Quotes.

And here's the sketch:
Thanks again, Redonkulous Designs - I'm going to have a hard time picking out just one image!

VCMP for OWH - Challenge #5

Before I fell asleep last night, I saw that Challenge #5 was a western theme and I knew I was in trouble.  I have no horse/western stamps at all, but I did have the "Howdy" SVG from Just Yolie that she created for OWH, so I cut it on my machine, along with a cowboy boot from SVG Cuts.

It took me several trials with different types of paper, but here's my card:

It's not my favorite card - I should have made the images smaller, but it's done and time to move on to the next challenge!

VCMP for OWH - Challenge #4

Our fourth challenge for the VCMP is tiered stamping - or triple time stamping, as Donna calls it.  I've done this before, but always with a background stamps, never individual stamps.  I made this card using stamps and Tsukineko Brilliance Pearl Orchid ink:

I loved the technique so much, that I made another card but I used a Hero Arts background stamp this time:
I am so impressed with all the creativity going on today!  Our ladies are really doing some great cards and it's so inspiring.  I'm done for the day, but I'm going to catch up on the blogs and comment.

Tomorrow will be another day full of card-making.  My next OWH box will be stuffed!

VCMP for OWH - Challenge #3

I had to take a break and feed the family dinner...but I'm back on track now.  Challenge #3 - Snowflakes but not Christmas.  This was hard - I haven't made one holiday/winter card yet because I don't have the inspiration.  But I did have this blue snowflake paper that I've been looking at for months and tossing aside.

I looked thru my SVG files and found the Tweety birds that I bought from My Scrap Chick and thought I'd cut one to go on a card...so here it is:

She came out pretty good...but not enough to get me into the winter spirit yet!

VCMP for OWH - Challenge #2

Our second challenge for the VCMP is to use the following recipe:
1 image
2 patterned papers
3 words

Here's my card:
I'm still going thru my sheet of robots from My Mind's Eye and I found some patterned paper in my stash that matches the robot.  The challenge was finding another patterned piece that didn't train wreck the card and my orange block paper fit in just fine.

I'm really enjoying the VCMP challenges - I hope to keep up with each one!

VCMP for OWH - Challenge #1

I've been looking forward to our Labor Day weekend and three days off just to relax around the house, doing chores, sewing and making cards.  When I checked out the first challenge for OWH's VCMP, I was happy to see that I won a $25 gift certificate to Our Daily Bread Designs!  Wowee!  I don't have any of their stamps and I'm looking forward to getting some soon.

I make cards for OWH, but never expect to get anything in return, so it's encouraging to win something.  Thank you ODBD!!!

ODBD is sponsoring our first challenge for the VCMP, which is to make a card with an encouraging sentiment.  For my card, I used a Spellbinders die to cut out the floral circles, which I backed with a piece of white vellum.  The floral circles are made from watercolor paper, which I brushed Distress Ink Squeeze Lemonade over using a water brush.

The sentiment may be too small to read in my picture, but it says " Friends fill your life with joy, Your soul with sunshine, And your heart with love".

Thanks again, ODBD!!
